Turn Back the Clock on Aging Skin: 6 Treatments That Deliver Dramatic Results

We all know aging is a fact of life, but that doesn’t mean you need to live with its effects on your skin. Whether you’re dealing with fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, skin laxity, or any other age-related skin abnormalities, you have options for treating these conditions.

Anti-aging skin care treatments are ubiquitous these days, but unfortunately, many of them don’t live up to their transformative claims. Certain skin care treatments, however, have proven themselves to deliver dramatic anti-aging results in minimal time.

If you’re ready to make an investment into the health and appearance of your skin, you should know whether the procedure you choose is likely to produce an appreciable ROI.

Here are six highly effective anti-aging skin care treatments that are well worth the investment!

1. Fractional Plasma Laser Skin Resurfacing

Fractional plasma skin resurfacing is a revolutionary treatment designed to rejuvenate the skin and improve the appearance of a variety of conditions. The treatment requires a super small time commitment – about 15 minutes, on average – and produces noticeable results after just one session.

Even better, fractional plasma skin resurfacing treatments aren’t just for your face; they can be administered on just about any area of your body to improve the appearance of:

  • Stretch marks (tiger stripes)

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Large pores

  • Loose skin (skin laxity)

  • Acne scarring and other types of scars

  • Sun damage

  • Hyperpigmentation, melasma, redness

  • Much more

While earlier versions of laser skin resurfacing can be quite harsh on the skin and typically require considerable downtime after treatment, plasma skin resurfacing is different. The treatment is cleared by the FDA as safe for all skin types and requires minimal downtime. Most recipients find they can return to their normal activities on the day of treatment.

Medical Tattoo & Cosmetic Centers of America, located just outside the Twin Cities in Minnesota, is the only in the state to feature the Opus Plasma, a first-of-its kind fractional plasma technology used to treat a wide variety of issues.

2. Microneedling Treatments

Microneedling treatments are designed to leave behind micro-injuries in the skin that stimulate your immune system’s natural healing response. Like the plasma pen (more below), microneedling is also designed to stimulate increased collagen production throughout the treatment area.

Increased collagen production results in firmer, plumper, smoother, younger-looking skin, while your body’s natural healing response brings additional growth factors and nutrients to the treatment area.

Ultimately, microneedling offers several benefits beyond its ability to bring about a more youthful complexion. It can also be used to improve the appearance of non-age-related skin issues like hyperpigmentation, uneven texture, scarring, and several others.

3. Plasma Pen Treatments

Similar to plasma skin resurfacing treatments, plasma pen treatments also produce rapid and dramatic skin rejuvenation. The treatment is designed to create micro-injuries in your skin’s epidermal layer. These tiny injuries stimulate a rapid healing response from your immune system, as well as increased collagen production throughout the treatment area.

Plasma pen treatments are highly effective at minimizing the appearance of many skin abnormalities, including:

  • Loose or drooping skin

  • Stretch marks

  • Scarring

  • Moles and skin tags

  • Lines and wrinkles

  • Bags under the eyes

  • Stretch marks

  • Neck lines

Depending on your skin, treatment with the plasma pen can require up to two weeks of downtime. After your skin recovers, you’ll notice dramatic anti-aging results and seriously rejuvenated skin.

4. Topical Retinoids

Topical retinoids (such as the extremely popular Tretinoin) are vitamin A derivatives that effectively unclog blocked pores, quell skin inflammation, slough away dead skin cells, and increase collagen production. They also stimulate red blood cell production within the skin they’re applied to, which helps improve skin tone and texture.

These topical products are only available by prescription, but their over-the-counter cousins, retinols, are widely available for purchase. Retinoids produce the best results when they’re consistently applied over time, so if you’re looking for rapid anti-aging results, this class of topical products may not be your best bet.

If, however, you’re looking for a product that you can apply at home to help keep your skin looking youthful and vibrant as you age, retinoids are an excellent choice.

5. Chemical Peels

Chemical peels contain a blend of acids and exfoliating ingredients that slough off dead skin cells and, ultimately, remove a controlled amount of the topmost layer of the skin on which they’re applied. After treatment with a chemical peel, the skin throughout the treated area will begin to peel away.

When all of the treated skin eventually peels from the face and/or neck – a gradual process that typically takes seven to 14 days – you’ll be left with a smoother, more youthful-looking complexion.

At Medical Tattoo & Cosmetic Centers of America, we offer the VI Peel, which is a medium-depth yet gentle peel that delivers impressive anti-aging results. As the only chemical peel that’s suitable for application in the delicate periorbital region, the VI Peel is an excellent choice for anyone who’s interested in turning back the clock on an aging under-eye or brow area.

The VI Peel is also ideal for those who’d like to try their first chemical peel or anyone who prefers a gentle peel that doesn’t penetrate the skin’s dermal layer. Deeper peels with higher acid concentrations are also available; however, they require a longer recovery time and cause much more of the skin to peel away.

VI Peels are also an effective, medical-grade acne treatment for blemish-prone skin.

6. Radiofrequency Microneedling

This form of microneedling is similar to traditional microneedling in that it involves creating micro-injuries in the uppermost layer of treated skin. However, radiofrequency microneedling also uses radiofrequency energy in conjunction with the microneedling process to rapidly lift, tighten, and smooth the skin throughout the treatment area.

RF microneedling (which is performed using the state-of-the-art AGNES RF device) is appropriate for all skin types and produces noticeable results after just a single session.

Treatment can help reduce or even eliminate under-eye bags and can also provide facelift-like results when performed on the face as a whole.
